Mr. Saltwater Tank

When is the Last Time you Looked at Your Tank?

Whether you are a tank dabbler, reef enthuiast, or reef junkie, I’m betting that you all got into the hobby for the same reason – to create a beautiful saltwater tank that you can sit back and enjoy.

But how often do you actually sit back and enjoy it? I mean really sit down, look at your tank and just take it in?

If you are a tank dabbler, you probably do this more than the other tank personalities becuase that’s why you are a tank dabbler. You want the best looking tank you can have, but you don’t want it to be your life. Taking in your tank is part of your daily routine, if not a way of life.

For the reef junkies and reef enthuiasts out there, taking a moment to take in your tank probably goes like this:

7pm: Sit down and start taking in your tank

7:01pm: “My tank looks good!..ok, pretty good..it could be better…I need more red coral in my tank…hmmm…I could move this coral over there and make room for a red piece…then I could move this one over there…Maybe I’ll get some LEDs to really make things pop…I think I need a new fish…something exotic…I wonder what my pH is….was that a red bug I just saw?”

7:03pm: You are either online researching the new “thing” you tank HAD to have, or you’ve got your hand in your tank moving corals and rocks around.

Fiddling with your tank is part of what gives you your tank personality, but today, try just taking in the beautiful tank you’ve created, without thinking about the what you could change about it. You’ll be surprised what you see.
