Simple, but affective…that’s the way we like it! Thanks Mark!

  • Tony says:

Ian, awesome idea! I have labeled a whole lot of wire in my time, and this actually is a no cost idea!

  • Michael Horton says:

Great tip, simple and cheap! (Unlike a lot of other things in this hobby.) I have been using a Brother label maker to label my cords. I also suggest you put descriptors in case you have multiples of the same item. For example “Left Circulation Pump” as opposed to “Korallia 1050.”

  • Dave says:

Sometimes it’s simplest tips that are the best ones. Great idea!

  • Mark H. says:

Nothing like the KISS method, good tip Mark and Ian.

  • Matt says:

Dang… we don’t get those in the UK… but our plugs are plenty big enough anyway I guess… Nice to have if you trying to trace a tangled wire mind!

  • What do you get in the UK matt? The usual twisty-tie?

  • That’s a good idea Michael!

  • Mark H. says:

    Mark,
One thing I have done is labeled the power strips, I usually swap my pumps out for cleaning and it makes it possible to use the same pump for different task and I make sure there are plugged in the right outlet for their current job. This keeps me from relabeling the pumps.

  • Kathy B says:

Ditto to Jesse! Thanks Mark and Ian!

  • Micah says:

Great tip. Ever since I bought a controller I haven’t had to label anything, it’s all on the head unit. I’m going to employ this on my freshwater tanks though.

  • Micah says:

BTW, my wife just laughed ate because she saw this on Pinterest months ago.

  • Forrest says:

Good idea with the bread bag clips, Mark. I hadn’t thought of that one. However, I prefer to label the power strip outlets instead, like Mark H. Labeling cords works, but since most aquarium equipment does not come with disconnecting power cords, if you remove the pump, you loose where it was on the power strip. And if you have a controllable power strip, that is a problem as you don’t want to inadvertently plug your kalkwasser feed pump into the outlet setup to control your lights.

  • Salvatore Abbate says:

    Great Idea.

  • Byron says:

    A great and simple tip!

  • Cheryl says:

    great idea..

  • Ken Mullineaux says:

Good tip Mark, but in the UK we no longer have them clips, our bread is taped tied. But we have large white electrical plugs to write on.

  • samuel says:

    good idea beats tape lol

  • John says:

Simple but wow, really does work..

  • Dave says:

also masking tape folded around the cord and stuck to itself, then pen or fine tip marker

  • Lucas says:

*Runs to grocery store and steals tabs off all the bread*

  • Lisa says:

If you have a cord too thick for the tabs, duct tape put on such that it has a “tag” on the end and labeled with a permanent marker works well too.
