where is the best place to put one in the sump or the overflow? this is a good tip i did not know there was a grounding probe for you fish tank.
Thanks Mark
A grounding plug will do nothing for you unless your house is properly grounded all the way from the plugs, to the power box, to the grounding probes that go into your yard. Most houses over 20+ years are not grounded properly because of the outdated building codes used during construction. You can run a copper line from the ground in the outlet to your water pipes under the house. This is what my electrician suggested.
The stray voltage is not the problem if it has nowhere to go…the current is the problem, and by adding a grounding probe, you will guarantee a current is created by completing a circuit. Grounding probes can actually make things worse. The right way to eliminate stray voltage is to replace the devices that create it. Loving the T-Shirt. Hey clown fish, tell me a joke 🙂
Thanks Mark, I learned the hard way when I had a powerhead go bad on me.

where do you get groundin plug in.
Make sure you use a GFCI outlet AND an AFCI breaker in conjuncture with the grounding probe. If not, you could actually start your house or tank on fire. Look here for more info!

+1 on Chris P’s comment. It’s probably better to use rubber boots instead of putting a probe in the water.
